Challenge

With many people unnecessarily attending A&E, NHS ONEL came to us for an impactful campaign that would help to reduce the number of A&E attendances. We had to find a way to let people know that visiting A&E is not always the best solution, when sometimes all that’s required is a visit to the local pharmacist or an appointment with the GP.

Solution

Our solution was the Yellow Men. Each 7ft yellow figure was custom made to depict a different medical symptom which advised which service was right for that ailment. With their striking appearance, the Yellow Men appeared across the South East accompanied by brochures, leaflets and interactive symptom wheels, with a team educating the public on a one-to-one basis. The campaign successfully ran for almost four years and attracted high profile coverage from the BBC News and the British Medical Journal.
